Gentlemen, I brought a boat and it has became a nightmare. LOOKING FOR ADVICE, WIFE HAS KICKED MY TAIL ENOUGH ALLREADY. The person I brought it from never registered titles in his name, the sighnatures do not match on the tittle, I have traced down the original owner; talked to sister, checked to see if it is stolen, it is not. How do I get the tittle's in my name. Please be kind. Plan to recontact original owner worried about the two different signatures.

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/boat/owner/titles_and_registration/Not%20on%20TPWD%20Record.pdfI would call Austin explain what's going on, get that owner listed on the title to submit a Affidavit of Facts(PWD314) that it's not stolen and verification of the Hull number I bought a 10ft predator and the guy who sold it to me wasn't the one who bought it and it was never titled in TX, filled out all the paper work and got a name from Austin, when I went to Garland they no you need xyz. I told her the name of the lady in Austin she call and said no problems here ya go. Expect hassle and call multiple TWPD location before you go

it has to be done in the process the way it suposed to the guy that sold it to you has to go down pay his taxes an reistration then he can sell it to you. if the guy you paid for it wont get it staighten out go to your local d a an file charges on him for selling you something he did not own it has been said on this forum many times if the titles of the boat an motor is not in the persons name that you are giving the funds to an the trailer is not registered to them run from the deal ther are to many legit deals out there without begging for a problem. about the signatures being different if it has been forged that is a whole other problem it says on the bottom of all the transfer form that tp&w an the dot uses any info that is not correct can be be prosecuted as a felony.

First off, the DA ain't gonna touch it. This is a straight up civil issue. Not criminal. "BUYER BEWARE" I'm sure everyone has heard those words before. You wouldn't buy a house or land without a deed. You wouldn't buy a car without a title. Why would you buy a boat without one? You are going to need to go to TPWD and find out who the last registered owner of the boat and motor is/was. You'll need to go to TXDOT to see who the trailer was last registered to. Then you'll need to track that person down and hopefully he'll be willing to sign whatever forms you need signed in order to transfer it into your name. If you can't do that then I wish you the best of luck. As mentioned here at least on a daily basis....Do not buy anything that is not properly titled and registered.

Someone should put a sticky up with the advise of "NEVER BUY A BOAT WITH OUT A TITLE IN THE NAME OF THE PERSON SELLING IT AND CURRENT REGISTRATION" if you do yer in for a real nightmare! As was said, would you buy a truck, car, land with out a deed or title, why would you buy a boat, trailer, motor with out one.
