I was thinking about starting a marina-lodge-boat storage-diner on a real popular bass fishing lake. I was thinking Fork or Falcon but it doesnt have to be in Texas. I need your opinion on the lake to put it on, what I should add, or is this just a stupid idea I should drop?

Most dreams start as an idea and if it is something you want to do, do what it takes to make it happen. It may or may not work out. But, atleast you wont be left with what ifs.

Falcon would be great as there is nothing here. I have a part time home here and the local food is terible. Not a good steak within 40 miles...nothing on the lake at all...but you have to deal with the water level...Falcon...big fish, great winter weather and lot's of jerks...some of them fish!

Sounds like a neat idea. Not sure on any specific lakes in your area, you could do some research on lakes that lack that kind of thing and that attract larger crowds. It would be a very worthwhile business venture if all of your research was done and you had a well written business plan. I have no idea how much knowledge you have on the subject so I'll assume you know what you're doing. All I can say is if its something you feel passionate about, you only live once. And if you need help with any of it, contact your local Small Business Administration office and they can give you more information.

Huxley Bay Marina is for sale on Toledo Bend...nice restaurant, covered wet and dry boat stalls, huge ramp that was extended when water was so low...just a thought...

Clarks Marina here on the Red River in Shreveport/Bossier City is for sale. I tell you what, if you did it right, you could have a gold mine. There are very few places to launch here on the Red River. There are a ton of tournament here, and big ones at that. I'm sure you know that the Classic was here in 09 and this year.

If someone does it right they'll make a ton of money.

I love fork but be carefull once they start sending water to dallas again they lake will drop and could be bad for business!

If you had good food and acceptable lodging i'd stay there on falcon any time. The food in zapata is TERRIBLE. The damn valero has the best food in town.
