Austin Carp Angler, and Lady Bird Lake need your help! We are organizing a cleanup for Lady Bird Lake this weekend on Sunday, February 19th. It’s time for local anglers to start taking care of our waters! Everyone knows about the trash that plagues ‘Austin’s Crown Jewel’. Well, it’s time we did something about it. We are requesting anyone who is able to come join ACA, on LBL, Sunday morning. We will be bringing a couple john boats, and a lot of trash bags to aid in the cleanup. If you have a boat, bring it if you can. The more resources we have, the better. Any amount of time you can offer to the effort would be greatly appreciated. If you fish Lady Bird Lake, then we ask that you come to help us out. It obvious the city is not interested in taking care of the lake that people travel great distances to fish. We think it’s time for local anglers to own the problem, man up, and do what we can. With ATC (Austin Team Championship) quickly approaching, we think it’s a great opportunity to clean up the lake in preparation for the tournament. If we can prevent trash from disturbing our swims during the tournament, then the event will be better for it. Anything helps! We will be meeting west of I35 near the boat ramp at 8am. Great idea!! Consider one for after SXSW too.
Also take bets on the number of Tennis Balls collected. At the ATC a few years ago, I counted 13 at Melrose.

I wonder how bad the pollution is from all the dog poop and urine that goes into the water?
I wish I could come guys, but I'm babysittin this weekend.

I can't make this weekend, but will continue to clean up around my swims, leaving them cleaner than when I find them...

The next one will be planned more in advance so hopefully more will be able to come out and help. I had a blast at this one. It really opened my mind about the size of the situation.
