Does anyone ever fish the barge? I'm curious because I live close to it and I've been fishing from it a couple of times, but never even had a bite every time I went. So I'm wondering if its produced catfish for anyone out there.

I do not know if it still stands but at one point the Lake Record bass came from there.

In 2005 (I think) the year KVD caught his (at-that-time) personal best and the at-that-moment LL record bass, it was a low 11+. Then a couple months later or so another caught at the barge mid-11, then a couple months later another person caught an 11+er which is the current record as far as I recall (without googling to be sure).

Anyhow, doesn't answer the catfish question, I've caught a few bass, crappie (good for that), and sunfish varieties off the barge in a couple of trips throughout my lifetime, nothing to write home about.

Just funny that the best tournament angler currently in the world at one time caught his PB on LL, and yet Lowrance/Insight doesn't consider LL enough of a "fishing" lake to put an HD map out on it.
BoatUS collegiate championship has been on LL for years. BASS opens on LL over many years... aggravating, but I know, off-topic, I just keep hoping someone will get the message.

the barge used to be decent back in the day. hit or miss. i've haven't heard anything good in the last 10 years. used to be a cool place to go when i was a kid in the 80's and early 90's. it used to get packed with people and the restaurant inside fixed a phenomenal cheeseburger! they don't keep up with it anymore. if you are wanting to keep warm and just sit around and bs, then its your place. if you want to catch fish, save your money.

From the barge to the point to the north is where the BASS Open was won last year, throwing skinny-mini whopperonkies!

havent been there in ten or so years. Used to catch a fair amount of crappie, cat and the occasional bass. I heard it floated off about ten years ago in a storm. I heard they havent taken care of it since then...if you go, post a comment, so some of us can check it out.

The barge was sitting really .ow this summer. They actually talked about moving it out 50 yards, but never did. I guess you're right and they just don't care anymore. I went out there two nights ago to fish off the bank around the point on the rocks and couldn't even walk down there....the rains had the water so high the rocks were all but gone! It had to be up 4-5 feet in that area. Not sure how that will affect the fishing from the barge, but I'll throw my dice somewheres else for now. If I happen to hit the barge sometime just on a whim I will post my results.
