 johnson115 dies when shifting back to neutral

have a 1996 johnson 115 motor runs great and starts right up but last time out after it was normal temp it would die everytime when going to neutral and would not restart unless you pushed lever forward a little to give it more gas ,Any ideas appreciated, Am new to the site and really enjoy it

i am a novice when it comes to boat mechanics... BUT, you might try adjusting your idle up, just a little.

Welcome to TFF.  Is this a new problem or existing? If it is new you may have a fuel delivery issue at idle speed. Several things could cause this (carb adjustment or a clogged low jet). As DA said your idle may just be set too low too.

idle was set at 800 rpm about 6 months ago this just started , I was just wondering if it could be the neutral switch or cable adjustment ,thanks for the help

Neutral switch wont kill the motor, it only interupts the start circuit. Put your serial # here: http://shop.evinrude.com/ Check to see if your motor has a shift interupt switch.
