Hello everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know that the Gilchrist Community Association will be responding to the Land Commissioner Jerry Pattersons press release about the "Rollover Pass recreational Amenities Plan". We are preparing a response, one that will share information that many of you have not heard or forgotten. We hope that this will be a source of information and a way to contact us for more information. We appreciate everyones support during these times where the state of texas is trying to close a wonderful place, when they should be addressing the issues with us, so that we can come up with a solution that still keep the pass open. In the meantime, if you have questions, I will certainly try and answer them. use this thread so that others can read the questions and answers and make their comments. If I can't answer your question hopefully someone else can. For those who like Rollover Pass and want to keep up with what is happening please send me a PM with your email address or request to be a friend of rollover pass on our facebook page. Build jetties. Much more cost effective than destroying the fishing commuinty of that area.

I love Rollover Pass but if you think of it as a business, it makes more sense to close it. The benefits (financially) far outweigh the downside if there even is one (financially). The fisherman in me has to say keep it open forever but I understand their point. I still would like to see more evidence of this so-called "accelerated erosion" as opposed to what would be washing away without the pass.
The only thing dumber than a fish is a fisherman.

Rollover Pass is why I come down there and dump money into Crystal Beach...for the past several years we have rented a beach house and bought a week's worth of groceries, gas, etc...we ride our quad down to the pass and fish, buy stuff from Ms Nancy's...without the pass, we'll probably need to find another place to take the kiddoes. Jetties are not "kid-friendly", thus not going to be an option with young children. I hope for the overall best for the Gilchrist community...until the pass is gone, we will continue to spend some time and money there every year. G.A. Willaby and family, Sasche, TX
