I've been fishing for a while now and know a lot about equipment, but what I'm confused on is the rods. What type of rod should I get strictly for worm fishing? Please include type of action, length, brand etc.

Light or heavy as in T rig or C Rig? I have two C rig rods, a Falcon LowRider Carolina Lizard Dragger 2 (7ft heavy) for throwing 3/4 oz weighted rigs and a Falcon Cara Amistad (7'3" heavy) for throwing really heavy weights, punching grass, or heavy football jigs.
For lighter T rigs I use a 7' MH Falcon LowRider with usually a 3/8 oz weight.

I've been fishing for a while now and know a lot about equipment, but what I'm confused on is the rods. What type of rod should I get strictly for worm fishing? Please include type of action, length, brand etc. Depends on your size, your style, how high your boat deck is above the waterline, etc. It's 6'6" to 6'8" for me. You want a medium heavy, fast action rod.

For worming around docks I like little shorter than 7 foot. Medium weight with a medium fast tip. Castaway CRM68 is my favorite for that. In open water I use a 7M from Castaway, same action in a 7 footer.

Anything from 6'9 to 7'6 is good for Texas rigs. MH

For me, I use falcon cara amistads for most all of my worm rods. For heavier weighted Texas rigs and when fishing in thicker cover, I use a falcon cara mike mccleand heavy cover flipping rod.

I will put my 7ft med heavy or heavy (On falcon) Kistler Zbone against anything out there. Hands down the most sensitive rod money can buy IMO.....

7'2" shimano cumara MH extra fast action
I love this rod. After using it a few weeks, I sold my GLoomis worm rods and bought more Cumaras.
FISH ON!! <'///><

I use 2 rods for T-rigging, one for lightweight/weightless and the other for larger worms/creatures. I prefer a little shorter rod than most, 6'6" to 7'.
Falcon Lowrider LFC-5-167 Weightless Worm. Designed for light/weightless presentations. Soft tip helps with casting and getting the proper action on the lure. I like to use this rod with senkos.
Falcon Lowrider LFC-5-166 Herm Special. I use this rod for big worms and creatures. It is an all around great performer. Even throw spinnerbaits on it.

Dobyns 734C or 735C for sure. My clients get spoiled after using my equipment and go buy themselves one after one day of using them. They handle a big fish with no problem and have the best feel to them. My wife loves her 733C and has threatened me with the unspeakable if I put it in the boat when she's not in it. ![smile smile](/forums/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif)
