My dad is wanting to go To Lake Athens this weekend. Neither of us have been on the lake so I wanted to see if anyone had a fishing report for it. Also what hazards do we need to be aware of? Last but not least how are the ramps and what is the best one to launch from?

Thanks
Jeff

Ramps are fine. They have made repairs to both. Buddy and I fished last Monday, caught 23, no biggies, all were pretty skinny. Hazards on the lake are pretty visible. Great lake.

it's much more important than that!

don't really remember any real danger, but you need to watch for grass mats in the middle of the lake

Thanks,

No hazards to speak of. All the timber is very visible etc. As long as you stay towards the middle you'll be ok and the ramps are good. The single boat ramp is my personal favorite but I've used both.

If you look up the lake on google maps, you'll see a tiny island just south of a road named penninsula circle. There is a point that comes off that island pretty far into the lake and it's low right now so steer clear of that but for the most part, it's great out there still.

Go at night!!!!!!! We went out there last Thursday night and boated over 50 from 2-5 pound range. Was incredible. Plus no fishing pressure at night. Most all came on white chatter baits in grass around bank anywhere under 10 ft. We fished the dam and other areas on the east side but I'm sure all areas are producing the same. Went from 9pm to 10:30am. Morning top water was alright but not as good as I was hoping. Night was way way better. Tons of hydrilla in the lake. Great time
