ICAST - TFO BVK Reel voted "Best in Show"
Congratulations to TFO for another winner.

I was somewhat concerned about the BVK drag prior to the ICAST show report from the experts. I have a bad habit of testing drags by “locking” down the drag until unable to pull line off the reel and I am unable to “lock down” the drag on my 5/6 BVK reel. My concern was for naught however when I received a report via the grapevine that the new BVK rod and reel recently caught some forty bonefish on Christmas Island flats!

There is more than enough drag for any salty critter, excluding the big blue water monsters of course.

I have a BVK 7wt rod and a BVK 5/6 reel loaded with a WF-8-F line and have more than ample backing. I am anxious to try in the salt this fall if I can possible make the trip.

Sweetest little combo in my arsenal.

I sincerely hope it's better than their last machined offering! The (now discontinued) Prism machined are terrible, and that could actually go a long way toward explaining the new BVK.

They had 2 versions. The cast and the machined. I have 2 cast. Never saw a machined in person.

Yes, the cast is much better than the machined, and I have one of those as well. One would expect the machined to be better, but it's all about the aluminum and machining quality.
