Has anyone drilled tru fiberglass in bass boat compartment to build rod storage, is did you use PVC if so how. Or can you buy inserts for this if so were. Thanks

I have seen a guy that just took PVC and cut them off about 2 ft long and glued the pipe all together. It worked. He did not drill through anything. Glued to the carpet I believe.

I thought about doing that to my old girl, but I just got some rod gloves and they work great. So I see no need in the tubes at this time. I'm only carrying 10 rods though.

That would work great but my boxes aren't long enough to get rods in .they are 1 and 1/2 ft short or that's what I would do .I already have rod socks .

academy carries golfing bag inserts that work great for making your own rod organizers in boats.

It's your boat, customize it how you see fit! I do stuff to mine all the time. It is set up the way I like it, and its paid for, so it doesnt hurt to put a few screws in it wink Just dont put one through the floor of the boat and out the fiberglass hul... that really hurts... did that several years ago to my dads boat when I owned it. LOL!

Then I am not understanding what your wanting. Putting tubes in the rod boxes doesn't make them any longer either. So why do the rod socks not work. 1 1/2 ft short is 1 1/2 ft short can't change that.

I have a 2005 Skeeter 190 and i do not like the rod storage. My rods have to go in and then bend to the curve of the boat. I tried tubes of Pvc but the angle of the tubes and the rod just did not work. It was worse. I purchased some rod socks and then put the rods in the compartment. It seems to be working really well.

i think what he is asking is can you cut out part of the front of a rod box to make it longer, seems he has a lack of length for the rods he has, i dont have the answer as i dont know the type of boat or its specs, but cutting out part of a bow section may not be good, somebody here should have an answer for him, if not call the boat center in flint tx and ask for lonnie or little dave or brian, they will know if its do able or not
