From the Dallas area but working in Lubbock the next few nights.. Looking to kill time during the day so I brought a rod. I know everything is working against me here but where is a decent little pond to catch something??? Bass or trout don't matter.. Just to get a tug. Caught a drum today but that's it in 30 minutes

Fishing in any pond around here is gonna be tough this time of year, but I don't blame you for wanting to try. There is a pond just north of 82nd on Memphis. It has a good population of bass, crappie, catfish, and carp, but its usually real slow going past fall. If you go, let us know if you catch anything.

I'd like to hear how it went too.
Me and a buddy of mine stumbled across that pond back in about '81 or '82. At the time Lubbock playa lakes were mostly perch, carp, and channnel cats so we were fishing for catfish with liver. After I had soaked a bait a while I went to reeling it in and I guess a stringy piece on the bait had a little action to it and a Bass slammed it. I was in the 8th grade. LOL
We threw it back and made a mad dash over to our tackle boxes and proceeded to slay the largemouth there for 2 years on black furies and other in line spinners, and we never saw another person fish it that I can remember.

I have never been to the one on 82nd but up in the north end of town are the canyon lake systems. They have bass stocked in the lakes. I have fished quite a few ponds out in Lubbock and the IMO the best one would have to be the canyon lake #2. Here is the link for what is stocked in the lake.

If you are heading north on University, it is located just past clovis road in Hodges park. I have only fished the north end once and never caught anything. There seems to be more cover on the lower end.
