Without insight.
Use the Navionics card.

The navionics chip is like 10 times better than lake insight. The navionics chip shows everything that insight shows and more. There's tons of detail on the navionics chip that lake insight doesn't have. Lake insight is a waste of money.

Ok here I am... not a an expert but I have a 7 on the bow with Insight and an 8 with out the Insight but have the Navionics Hot Maps 2010. The major difference is the contour marks are far more accurate with Navionics on most lakes along with many more marked spots than the insight will provide. Navionics is also better to navigate with when you add boat lane chips to a graph due to the fact Navionics has better detail zoomed in. On the Insight when you zoom within a few hundred feet you loose the 3D effect on every lake. Navionics will keep the detail you need zoomed in. Just what I know.

Get the Insight and Navionics! The insight is better for creek channels, road beds, and pond dams. Navionics is better for contour depths.

I have the hds7 with insight and i also have the navionics chip. I like having both because there are some things not on one, that are on the other. For example while fishing rayburn last week i would switch to the insight map while running because it showed where all the different forest were, and I could avoid them. then when I started fishing I switched back to navionics where it shows really good contours and creek channels, etc.

What horseplaydvm and Kenneth175 said. Get the best of both worlds. Each one has its use.

don't buy the insight. lowrance charts don't even compare to the navionics charts.

I just got a HDS-8 with insight :: still trying to learn how to use it. How much trouble is it to switch back and forth from the insight to the Navionics chip? Thanks! Maybe this will help Bobryant make up his mind what he wants to get.

switching between the two are easy. Do not remember the exact sequence off the top of my head but it is not problem at all to change from one to the other.
