I think i will Call BS on that one bro! If you catch a sixer every time i would love to know what technique you are using and where... I have hammered them out there in every possible way and have yet to beat 3 pounds!

He has been with me just about every time he was out there, he is no BS-er. Thats too bad that you can't get one over 3... "step yo game up son".

I caught one there by the dam that was over 6 and have the pic of the deep diving treble hook in my leg holding the fish to prove it.

Does this background look familiar? .....You can call BS all you want, but I have been on the lake a total of 3 times and caught one over 6 each time. One in Feb, one in April, and one in July. All came shallow (less than 3') on 3 different lures. The first on a jig, the second on a frog and the third on a speedcraw. I'm trying to find the pics of the first 2. They were caught back when we were doing the Texas Small Water Tournament Trail. This one was the one caught in July while we were out doing a product photo shoot.

Well i finally hooked one and she wrapped me in the Brushpile that's always above the water on the right heading toward the damn. I got to see her real good and then my line snapped!! definitly 6-8 pounds. I just started fishing from a boat back in June so im still learning. When i use a frog it's usually just a soft plastic with the swimbait style legs. Since that post i have caught a couple of 4's out of there. Where your at in the photo looks like your pretty close to that pile i hooked the big one on. I will definitely have to try the speedcraw. Was it t-rigged or on a shakyhead? Thanks and sorry for doubting your catch.

Thanks! Here's one of the others I caught out there in April of '08....I can't find the pic of the 1st one, but it was about the same size. This is the frog fish.

There are definitely some nice ones in there, but the funny thing is, of the 3 full days I've fished out there, these are 3 of probably 6 total fish I've caught there, so I've never caught numbers of fish out there, just 3 nice ones!

the brush pile you are talking about didnt exist when either of the above pics were taken. that pile has only been there for about a year and a half.

All of the big ones I've caught have been north of the boat ramp. The one in the pic above was moved down south just to get some pics with the rock cliff in the background.

As for the speedcraw, it was Texas rigged and she came from less than 1.5' of water. It was well over 100 degrees in the middle of July and the water was HOT. Not exactly a "textbook" summer pattern, but I've figured out these Texas fish don't read textbooks....so don't rule out anything.

Yeah i have caught them shallow there all year long. The water is really low now and all the fishable vegetation is out of the water for the most part. I was out there today. And it was slooooww! Finally caught a 3 pounder in the only brush pile at the dam on a jig with a watermelon red Paco craw on it. Something tell's me if i was a good deepwater fisherman i could pull some hogs out of there. There are a few steep drop offs that i have found that hold fish from time to time. Pretty sure their some big one's.
