I just got back from my trip to nY fishing the finger lakes which had zebra muscles. The water was crystal clear and had the nicest greenest grass and tons of fish. I didn't expect to do real well. But fishing out of a boat with no trolling motor had 16 pounds in my first hour on a frog. So back to my question now. Will texoma grow grass if so how long till it starts. I know changing water levels affects grass growth but seems to me as clear as it's getting some is bound to grow

Not enough nutrients and/or too saline. I grew up on Texoma and I don't think I have ever seen any grass on it to speak of.

Dang thy sucks. The grass helps with the zebra muscles cutting your line bc they are under it. They were killing me last time I was there

this may be a silly question, but doesn't grass grow in brakish areas? Why can't some of that grass grow in lakes with minimal salinity such as texoma?

I believe the water elevation changes to much for the grass to grow. There used to be a couple good groups of Lilly pads, they died off after the flood on 07

I have heard of some small areas of grass back in the past, I also have a buddy that claims to have found some small areas of grass and can usually catch them really good on it. As far as large areas of grass, I dont see it happening.

I understand the water level affecting it but here is something else to think about. In that gin clear water sometimes grass grows in 20 ft of water. The lake stays consistent enough that that 20 ft depth probably won't be completely out of the water and it's pretty high now so it prob won't e much deeper without a big flood. I also remember when Hubbard creek was almost dry and now it is covered in grass

Theres some grass on Texoma... you just have to hop the sandbar to the Washita and run about half way to Tishamingo.

There used to be a couple good groups of Lilly pads, they died off after the flood on 07 A fished a group of pads on Texoma a few years ago. You left Highport went to main lake and turned left and went up about 6 miles to a bridge and they were on your right off the mainlake either before or after the bridge.

Grass and pads in Sunshine Cove on the east side of the Washita, also as you move north up the river check the backs of creeks, also saw a little in Mill Creek last year, not there this year
Tons of managed pads in the wildlife area in the south part of the Big Mineral, always wanted to fish down there (April-Sep)

Many years ago Bruce Hysmith (the TP&W biologist) was talking to my bass club and mentioned that they've pumped water out of the lake a into a pond and were able to grow grass just fine; he was at a loss to explain why it wasn't in the lake.
