KIDS FISHING TOURNEMENT!!  HOOK'EM FOR HEROES
ONLINE REGISTRATION CLICK ME! Date: Saturday, August 14, 2010 @ 8:00 AM Address: Breckinridge Park 3555 Brand Rd Richardson,TX 75080 Fees: $10 before August 1, $15 from August 1 - 14 Brief Description: Kids Fishing tournament to benefit Heroes for Children. Fun activities for kids of all ages, including The Richardson Fire Department, bounce houses, face painting, and FISHING!! Prizes will be given to top kids in each age group. Registration / Check-in at 8 am. FISHING 9 am - 11 am Awards 11:30 am Bring your kids out everyone, this is going to be a huge deal for a great cause! Tournament proceeds will go to Heroes for Children, an organization that helps children with cancer. We are getting some major corporate sponsorships and assistance with this tournament, so it will be quite an event! If you would like to volunteer at the event you can send me a message or if you would like to become a sponsor click on the website at the top of the page.

What a great event and great cause! I just started to get my 7-year old son interested in fishing. He has fished for largemouth and sunfish with me in area ponds, etc. I am assuming TPWD will be stocking Breckenridge Park lake with catfish for the kids for this tournament? We plan on bringing our own tackle and bait but wanted to confirm the type of fish and also curious as to what type of bait will be provided (the website says tackle and bait provided). Any info would be appreciated.

It will be stocked with 500 lbs of channel catfish before the tournament and already has a healthy population of various species of fish. I'll have to check and see what baits will be provided, but I think it will be hot dog, stink bait, worms etc. I will post when I find out for sure.
