Lowrance HDS 8 with structure scan vs Humminbird 998c SI. What are pros and cons of each and which one do you prefer?

I've got the hds 8 and love it. I have a buddy who loves his humminbird. The main difference that I see is normal sonar appears to be better on the Lowrance. I read about quite a few people that have warranty service issues with the Lowrance.

Humminbird is easier to operate and the customer service is great.. and even better you probably won't have to worry about using customer service if you go with the bird! I do agree that lowrance's 2d is superior, but not enough to make me buy a lowrance over a HB just based on that. Just my personal opinion though.. go to bass pro and play around with both of them and see what you prefer.

I like Lowrance, but thats probably because Ive never used a side imaging unit before. Until I see a need for it I probably never will. I am able to find feeding fish on deep structure with a Lowrance pretty easily. It tells you all you need to know.

Thank you for the input. I have a LCX 38c HD and I love it. I have heard a lot of good things about the HB Side imiging but the unit I saw on the lake was not real clear. I am looking for opinions of fishermen who actually own and use one of these.
