update!

The State Park has kayaks and canoes to rent They have 4 singles/2 tandems and several canoes; they rent for $5 per hour. I'm gonna see if I can get the park staff to offer shuttle service to Newmans Bottom for the day or maybe have some volunteers do it.. This is going to be a great day at the park!

For your friends or spouses that don't fish maybe they would like to come and just enjoy birding and nature walks. Gary Fritcher will be there to lead birding walks during the day close to the park..

Sounds great. I think wife and I will do it if the weather is decent at all. Probably will bring 5th wheel and kayaks and stay the weekend.

I am adding a twist to the event on January 9th. We will bring no fish to the fish fry! With a huge leap of faith we will depend on the fishermen's ability to catch fish on that Saturday. It will be a contest to feed the hungry masses back at the park.. And the winners will be all of us..

Does Nails Creek have RV sites? If not, where is the closest, most convenient to Nails Creek?

I wish it was not so many miles from my house or I would have been there all bundled up in my insulated suit, cold or not.

Waiting for some pictures of all the fun.

Raider will tell you the fishing was tough! I have not heard back from fishytx or jsinn01 but last report was promising. This video might not work yet but it should eventually.. The Boy Scouts made the day IMHO.. Once the fisherman and paddlers left the pavilion around noon it was just us and the scouts and we had fun.. Mark your calendar because we are having another pancake breakfast the second Saturday in February and all heading to the creek after eating to float and fish..
