Got to the lake around 5 and started looking for good bait. Only found a couple of 4-5" baits and a whole bunch of threadfin. Went out to holiday humps just before sunup and just waited, listening for that taletail noise of feeding fish.
There were a couple of blowups and a few birds working but each time it was extremely short lived. We were watching the birds and followed them to the dam area and found good surfaceing fish that Hsayed up for awhile but were moving way fast. You would get a few casts and then they would move off faster than the trolling Motor wanted to go. We had been throwing pencil poppers all morning. We switched to slabs and started getting a few. I put on a live bait and let it drift as we continued to slab. The bait hit and I pulled in a hybrid around 22 inches.
After awhile, we decided to go look for more gooD bait as most of the fast action was done. After two hours of throwing the met we headed back to the dam area and drifted where we were marking lots of fish but couldn't get a bite. Finally anchored up but even that proved fruitless.
We decided that the day was done for us and started in but decided to drift the humps out of holiday, one time. We got no bites.
Summary: 1 keeper hybrid on top water 2 keeper hybrids on slabs 1 keeper on bait 5 magnum sandies on slabs and hellpets 1 gaspergoo on cut bait 1 bullalo in the cast net

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach
