How do you get to the pass? Last time I went my truck got stuck in the sand. I couldn't find a way to get close to the water.

The only way to get down there with out driving is to walk. Come through the freeport side, otherwise you have to come all the way through galveston. It will be a longer drive if you are comming from north or east of houston but it is easier. There are plenty of reds and trout around the pass, flounder and more in the bay. Head back towards cold pass or in and around titilum tatilum bayou. If you dont have a boat try the surf by the Octagon and the car bodies. Topwaters early and late in the day. Good wade fishing off of blue water highway into christmas bay too. Was out in july caught most of my fish on live bait, finger mullet, shad and piggey perch.

If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.

You have to drive through galveston to the seawall, then hang a right and keep driving till you get there. There is some access roads that will get you to the beach on the galveston side. Usually fished pretty heavy.

I grew up not far from SLP. I fished it a lot. Fishing is good year round just about, depending on what you are looking for. Reds will move out of the bay and out to the gulf to spawn in the fall. Since the pass heads out from the bay... you get the idea lol. Lots of shark in there too. There are some good holes on back on the bay side of SLP that hold good flounder. The underwater terrain changes with every hurricane and TS that comes through. I haven't been out and looked at anything since Ike came through but I had heard that some things changed a little.

From what I have been hearing Flounder at SLP are pretty good during the fall season. When/which month do you think is the best time to fish for flounder there? I am pretty new at floundering and liver about 5 hours North of SLP/Galveston. So don't have the time to fish around to discover new area. We have been fishing Galveston during the fall season and had never fish anywhere else for flounder. I don't have boat, just wade around the shallow for flounder. Wondering if it better to fish for flounder in the surf side or the bay during the fall season. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
