Well, had a couple of hours today to chase the fish I love to hate that keeps eluding me. It was blazing hot and the wind was blowing pretty good at times which made spotting fish tough. I could have caught over 100 2-5lb small-mouth buffaloes today but that wasn't what I was targeting today. I did see a couple of 30+ pound carp but had no way of getting a fly to them as you can see in the photo but mostly all I saw was buffalo which sucks. What time of the day is best? I blew a couple of shots yesterday because I was so damn excited about actually having a shot. I just need to calm down while on the water.

Anyway, here is the tally for today:
Carp: 9
Cole: 0 ( whip )

I am not giving up, before the summer ends I will have one landed on fly!

Oh I was in shorts.

This place is just super slick and wading boots are a necessity. I just had my summer gravel guards on as well.

What the photos dont show is that from the road down to the flow, it is a good 30'.

Oklahoma, not Texas. These fish are kinda trapped in a stretch of about 1 mile. They just let a fraction of water out all the time. I will prove the #30's with photos in 2 weeks when I get back from Texas. I tried high sticking them with no luck! I ran out of batteries on these pita camera that I have. I also saw some gar that were easily 5'.

I have had the Simms Rivershed boots with Vibram for a couple of months now and I would recommend them to anyone! They are the most comfortable wading boot, I have ever worn.

Very cool! Good luck catching those carp on the fly, that's a hell of an accomplishment.

30+ may be a bit of a stretch, though, that's a fairly rare fish, especially for a river, or tail race.

Plus, size can be deceptive in the water.

Mid 20lb carp:

Get a float tube and get in there to them. By the way that "carp here" would look good if you got a can of Krylon and painted it there.

It's more than the catfish would do.

You might be right on weight, but there are 2 that have to be mid 20's and up.

Derik, that's funny when editing the photo I thought the same thing!

Oh one more thing, this fish see lots of bow fisherman plus other anglers all the time. On the weekends when they are releasing it is nothing to see 40-50 people fishing. They are very very spooky which makes it even more exciting and tough.

Yeah, and that was after artificial fattening with Old Chub. (Note the fish's beer gut.)

Sounds like it will be extra satisfying when you finally stick one and land him! Looking forward to the pictures! I'm sure you will nail one soon.
