These are pics from that other site. I may not use too many but I'm going to make a bunch. I know I'm going to start looking at every garage sale I pass by now for old flatware.

Those are great looking lures. They look similar to the Hopkins Spoons. Might be able to pick up some of these knives at one of the Dollar stores or Wal*Mart.

I remember seeing a fishing show awhile back where the guy was pouring his own deep drop jigs & encasing them in resin to protect the reflective tape surfaces. Seems like this would work on these homemade knife jigs, wouldn't it?

With out knowing what they look like, this is how I have one pictured in my mind.
1.Cut off the knife blade.
2.Drill holes in both ends of the handle.
3.Apply split rings to both holes.
4.Put hook on one end and tie line to the other.

Is this close?

Yes that is exactly right.. just make sure if you are going to use them for Tuna to use 4X strong kooks.. those stainless Siwash Hooks on Deer Stranglers jigs will work for most bottom fish and Black Fins but Magnum sized YFT will straighten them out.

Get you some Owner Gorilla 4X Bait hooks and Owner ST-66TN 4X Stinger Trebles. Tuna hooks need to be able to hold 25# of sustained drag. Make sure to use Owner Hyper Rings 220# split rings or #10 Rosco rings.

You can also use assist hooks on the top woth a Solid ring and split ring.

BPS Sells the one above.. Free Style Jigs in the BPS S/W Catalog. Fishin Comfort on Ebay sells some good jigs cheap get the 240 and 300 gram jigs.. they come with the assist hooks and rings.
