We are adding a Catfish Tournament this year. July 11th. All the details not worked out yet. Anyone interested? We will run it like our Crappie Tournament "U HOOK 'EM WE COOK 'EM" The weigh-in will be at The American Legion and then we will clean them and fry them up with all the trimmings. Let me hear from you N Texas Fishermen & women.

Will it be rod reel only or jugline, trotline catagory? Sounds like a good time.

I dont like the idea of cooking all the fish caught. There will be some big catfish weighed in and would like to see them released for someone else to catch another day.

I think a "Channel Cat Only" tournament for this type of event with maybe 10 fish weighed in per team would work out great. It would even the playing field a bit and would be a lot of fun for everyone.

I do not have rules set yet and need advise from you guys. So please keep it coming. I want to make all of you happy and run a good tournament. I run Bass & Crappie Tournaments but only bass fish so I will take all your advice very seriously. Perhaps we can set a size limit to cook and over that it must be released alive. Please provide input.

Hi Bobby I am sorry for not properly introducing myself. My name is Lyndee Prieskop and I have been running Bass & Crappie Tournaments for the past 6 years on Lake Ray Roberts as a fund raiser for The American Legion in Pilot Point Texas. With the $2.00 a boat that with keep on the Wednesday Night Tournaments we use the money to help the Vet's home and last year to buy Christmas for 37 Nursing home Residents in Pilot Point that have no visiting family and send toys to Childrens Hospital as well as to Shephers Store house in Pilot Point. This area is really to small to give you a complete list of how we stretched out our money last year. The fishing on Ray Bob is our primary fund raiser. I do appreciate all your advice. I will copy this and paste as an intro on forum. Thanks again.

Ok you Guy's agree on; Channel Cat only? 10 Channel Cat per boat? (size limit?) Bigger released alive? 2 Fishermen per boat? Rod & reel only no jugs or trot lines? Chumming allowed? No limit as to fishing areas? But must be on Lake Ray Roberts.

All catfish over 10 pounds should be released. Channel catfish only. 10 Catfish limit. HAve to meet state regulations on length. 2 Fishermen per boat. Rod and reels only. chumming should be allowed. Fishing boundaries: Ray Roberts. There also should be a rod limit i think of six. There are a lot more rules that needs to be put into play. I fish a lot of tournaments and this is just my advice. Many people will have different opinions. I like that it is a fundraiser. Is this going to be a open tournament? How much per boat to enter?

It will be an open Tournament. How many Rods at a time. In Bass it is 5 rods on boat but only one in use at a time. How do Catters do it? We are talking about Cost now. Welcome suggestions.
