perch aren't native to our water's, they may work. But most
of the time only native baitfish or native fish work, b/c that is what the fish are used to feeding on.

I am pretty sure he is talking about sunfish and bluegill, most people just call them perch. They are native to the colorado river.

I have been told about using perch before, but was told to use limb lines or jug lines and I will be fishing from the bank, I am taking 2 minnow and craw fish traps and a throw net to catch shad. I have used shad before and some stinkbaits with no luck and I am wanting a change of luck..
P.S. by the way I am from VA but have been at FT Hood for 10 years in the ARMY and nothing I have learned over the years from there even gets me bites so any help would be appreciated

Worms will absolutly get you bites, they just might be smaller fish. I would try cut or live shad for bigger fish. Fish in the deeper holes of the river. If you can get your hands on some crawfish you can catch some big gasper goo!(freshwater drum).

And just what would I do with a big gasper goo? Don't tell me.

I can't say I've ever caught a big one. Maybe 7-8lbs is the biggest. And they stunk pretty bad. I used to eat the small ones. But they never tasted that good to me. What's the biggest one you've ever caught?
