As most of us know fresh shad is better than frozen shad eventhough some claim they've done well on frozen shad. What about frozen carp. Has anyone had any luck with frozen carp? Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Katfishken

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

frozen carp & buffalo have paid off purty well for me on trotlines ... i fillet'um skin on 1/2 inch thick or less & freeze'um flat one layer thick in a quart bag ... that way if they still a lil frozen you can break off each bait & bait up ... i filleted a doz big ole buffs one day & had 16 bags of bait in my freezer but i was runnin' lines every day
regards albertking catfishing is now an industry ... it's best for the industry to eat baby catfish

I agree with Albert, I've done pretty well on them also. That meat just seems to hold a nice scent.

I agree with Albertking and Big Zee. All I use anymore year round. I cut the scales off and cut strips. Then cut off approx 1" square chuncks or whatever size to match the hook. Once you punch the hook through the skin it will hardly ever come off. Holds scent well to. I found it best to allow it to thaw only once, after that it becomes somewhat mushy. I have used it along side Shad and Perch and really can't tell the difference in bites. And the fun in catching Carp is an added bonus.

Very good in the winter when shad is harder to come by. Highly recommend it. Throwing a net is no fun at all in December and getting wet. It will make you question your sanity...unless you catch some fish shortly after
