We've been planning this tournament for a long time and now we just need to get the word out! If this isn't the most fun tournament you've ever fished, I'll buy you a beer at the weigh-in (complements of the Del Papa Distributing Company)!!!
I'm going to paste our press-release below as it sums up this event much better than I can. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to call, PM or email me. I really hope to see all of you there!!

www.big3fishing.com Biggest Saltwater Tournament Ever Planned To Help Children With Cancer Houston, TX - August 13, 2007 - Striving to raise money for a charity organization that helps children stricken with cancer, a huge saltwater fishing tournament has been organized on the Texas Gulf Coast. Open to all anglers, this derby aims to be the biggest of its kind and looks forward to attracting fisherman and women up and down the Texas coastline.
The Big 3 Big Fish Tournament, presented by John Eagle Honda of Houston, will be held on October 27, 2007 at the prestigious Harborwalk Marina & Yacht Club located in Galveston's West Bay. This tournament was designed to raise awareness and funds for the Kids Unlimited Foundation, a group that, amongst many other things, hosts a small ranch for children with cancer to visit, play, enjoy nature and forget about their problems.
The Big 3 part of the tournament name refers to the three most popular species of game fish on the Gulf coast - speckled trout, redfish and flounder. There is a division for each of the species and all three are covered by one moderate entry fee.
The Big Fish aspect of the name applies to who wins the most money. This tournament is rather unique by the fact that weigh-ins are held hourly. The biggest fish from each division brought to the scales each hour wins $1,000 cash. The second and third place fish win $300 and $100, respectively. This happens eight times over the course of the day resulting in almost $34,000 in cash being paid out. It does not end there, though. The top hourly winners from each division will be entered into a drawing for one of the many remarkable Grand Prizes including a brand new Honda Ridgeline truck, a Dargel boat outfitted with a Honda outboard or a new Honda ATV.
The tournament is open to anyone who wants the opportunity to help a great cause and win huge amounts of cash and great prizes. Registration is available online at
www.big3fishing.com or your local Academy Sports & Outdoors store. The entry fee is $199 which covers a BBQ dinner at the final awards ceremony, a custom fishing rod from American Rodsmiths, a commemorative fishing shirt and hat provided by Fish-N-Hunt and assorted baits from Riptide lures, Berkley Gulp, Stanley, CW Crabs and more.
Destined to be the largest event of its kind, The Big 3 Big Fish Tournament offers a unique chance for the amateur angler, or weekend warrior, to win the kind of cash and prizes they only dream about or see on TV. The fact that 100% of the proceeds go to an incredible charity virtually guarantees this inaugural event overwhelming success.
The Kids Unlimited Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to benefit children stricken with cancer. Kids Unlimited became a 501C3 organization in 1994 when caring individuals, of whom several were parents of children with cancer, founded a grassroots organization with the hope to provide children a reprise from cancer and an opportunity to be free of the harsh treatment regiment. Through these efforts, Kids Unlimited joins hundreds of families together for consistent family-oriented activities. Events include catfish, bass and trout tournaments; bowling tournaments; outings to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Astros games, Aeros games, offshore fishing trips and holiday parties. They are the only group of its kind in Houston and the surrounding areas which consistently provides family activities for kids with cancer.
