Has the white bass run started at Lake Somerville yet?
We mainly fish saltwater and try to go once a year for them

Fred,
The wife and I fished yesterday from 9:30 til 3:30. Caught 30 very nice whites. Fished the flats off Rocky Creek Park. At about 10:00 we caught them on top and had a ball until 2 guys ran in the middle of them with their motor fired up!!!!!!!Spread them out a few times.
Still much good fishin to be had...

Catching white bass in the open water, not in the creeks, is possible and extremely productive from the end of Feb to the end of May. To tell someone that if they don't fish March and Feb, they will miss the white bass run is totally inaccurate. You should know your business before you post something on this forum. The end of January to March is very productive if you're fishing the creeks. Trust me.

I am running a guide service at the lake this year and went out this afternoon to check it out. Found LOTS of shad, never seen this many in the lake before. Caught around 20 in about an hour and a half checking different spots. The whites ARE biting, as stated before not sure what longhorn is talking about!!!!

The spawn in the Yegua creek was over by the 1st of April, but the main lake was getting better by the day. The first post on this thread was April 16th and by that time the annual spawning run up the creeks was all but over and done. Txhorn was referring to the creeks and not the main lake.

caught a few today on slabs and topwaters during a few short blitzes. left with about dozen keepers. was fishing next to an older blue astro bass boat that was doing well, i think they are TFF members.

I have not gone to Somerville in a week or so, but before that it could be hit or miss. Two Wenesdays ago we went out and cought 79 whites but no big hybrid. We usually limit out, but it can be difficult at times. Last week the shad were going nuts, it sounded like raindrops falling all over the lake. Tons of fish were showing up on my GPS but we couldn't get them to hit anything. When the birds are not going, (which for us is only at first light until 8 or so and from 5:30 to 7:00) you can still troll and hook up with some good humbers and maybe even some good size hybrid. I really don't know about the whites stopping to school, I think its just about to heat up. Good luck.
