I know of two that have red/green channel markers and no “commerical” traffic. Lake Kabetogama and Lake Vermilion.

Ironically both those Lakes are in, wait for it, Minnesota. roflmao By the way you're up to 23 post on this one thread

Are either under USACE control???... If they need more red/ green buoys they should head on down to the Ohio River after this springs flooding. I guarantee you half to 75% are up in the corn fields or 100's of yards from where they are supposed to be... Dan

I don’t believe so. There isn’t much corp water in MN, the MS river is all I know of. Maybe I’m wrong.

I guess those buoys are probably more irrelevant than ever, they should either have them and maintain them, or take them out and be done.

Though I think some proper markers would be helpful on Rayburn.

I would think the Feds (USACE or TVA) would be the only agency that could but out channel buoys... I know I asked our TWRA guy about no wake zone markers and he said they were the only agency on the lake that can but out No Wake buoys, and if they found any that didn't have their insignia they'd be removed immediately... I’ve never seen the ones on Vermilion, I only fish there really late in the season, they pull them for the winter. The one on Lake Kab are big legit buoys like you’d see on st Clair or in the Great Lakes. I don’t know who can do what, the only think on Kab that is different is the National Park Service manages some of it, I’ve never seen any tug boats or anything going by, it’s all just cabins and fisherman that I ever saw.
