I was wondering if any of you can tell me the best place to catch a shoal bass? It would be great if there was a place I could catch one from the bank, but if a boat is need I can work that out. I know it is not a Texas species, but I know many of you travel and fish.

Georgia, Florida or Alabama.

flint river, southwest georgia....a convenient place to bank fish would be where highway 37 crosses Flint river just east of Newton,Ga.....there is ramp with parking near the bridge...you could fish up an down the river from the bank on both sides...rig up a pink or white with red tail floating worm with 1/8 ounce weight..same with any color fluke.....throw it out in middle, let it drift downriver bumping the bottom and you will catch some shoal bass....best time for this would be late summer or mid fall.....

Mark Zona filmed a show on the Flint River fishing with a young guide who he had met at the Classic and the young guide showed him pics of 4 and 5 pound Shoal bass. Great show. I'm sure you could glean some good info from that show.

Easiest is the Ocmulgee River above Macon, GA. All you need is a popper and you’ll get plenty of 3lbers. Let me know if you make it out this way. I can put you on some easily.

I can loan you a kayak if you’re wanting to do a float. I’m convenient to both the Flint and Ocmulgee

Thank you. That sounds good. I will try and find some information on the show.

Thank you for the information and invite. I am hoping to give them a try this summer. If I head that way I will send a PM.
