At the very least that agency needs an overhaul. It was used in a political manner by the previous administration. The train derailment in OH and the storms in NC prove that.

Looks like LAFD is in compliance with the DEI EO, looks like he’s shaking hands with a 100% white male fire force, I don’t know, it was in the shade, maybe a few were Latino haha

If this happened in California, it would be on the news 24/7, just like the fires are.

If you didn’t see the people in NC yesterday speaking, well it was heartbreaking.

One lady who was trying to help had asked another lady if there was anything she could do for her.

The lady just asked her if she could get a cup of coffee.

Another lady spoke about ‘survivor remorse’.

She knew so many who had been killed and she didn’t know why she survived.

These people have nothing…

Here's some reality. Most of this country does not care what color a firefighter is. Hell if we are masked up you can't even tell hat color we are to start with. People just want help. We are there to help them regardless of their race, religion, sexual preference, political beliefs or their preferred pronouns. The tones drop for a call and we head to the apparatus EVERY single time. We are not given any information about the caller except the bare minimum that tells us the nature of the call. In 25 years I have yet to see ANY delayed response or lack of professionalism from one single firefighter I have worked with. If that person needs help, we help them. Its our job but more importantly we took an oath. Anyone trying to say that firefighters give a rip about any demographics that a patient/victim might have is unequivically full of BS.
I also challenge anyone to go by a station and you will see firefighters from all backgrounds working there. Again, none of us care what the demographics are of the people we work with. We just care that they can do their jobs when it hits the fan. Nothing else matters one single bit.

the reality that I had been hearing lately was in LA the fire departments were full of “dei” hires that couldn’t do the job. My point was the 20 or so folks that trump shook hands with looks like capable firefighters. So I just wondered where the incapable ones were, or if they were just fiction, since the news is now completely full of lies

LAFD has 3500 personnel and 106 stations. Judging their racial makeup based on 20 people that you see at a PR shot might not be the best way to gauge the actual DEI situation for that department.

Seems like it could be a descent place to start. Where or what
would be a better way to gauge it?

It’s alright, I’m still over here trying to understand everything. It doesn’t seem like any municipality in the world would have enough water pressure to open up fire hydrants to service 10000+ burning homes at nearly the same time with adequate water pressure. I look forward to seeing the improvements that are going to be made.

Further more there is no miracle water valve that opens and water just miraculously comes from the beautiful rivers of Oregon, Washington and even Canada. I taught myself that today.

Haha no no mark, the media and our lying politicians have it all figured out. It sounds like it’s gotten to the point where people are okay with lies, it’s completely accepted

Do you know where the big miracle valve is located?

The hard facts remain. The homes that burned down recently is nothing in comparison to many other natural disasters in recent history, yet since they are rich folks homes it’s being coined as the most devastating in our nations history.

Maybe everyone forgot the many hurricanes that have completely destroyed entire cities.
