Texas rainbow trout stocking is ongoing with many fish being caught across the state. Lures, powerbait, and earthworms can all produce fish. Trout are a great fish to introduce a young angler to fishing. They are great eating and make a nice picture. Go get some.

Beautiful fish! We fish rivers for them in my part of the world and call them steelhead! They smoke up real nice as well. Typically use a 9 to 11 foot rod with a 1000 series Shimano Sustain spinning reel and drift roe bags into holes or undercut banks with a #8 salmon egg hook.

In summer and early fall we chase them on the Great Lakes with down riggers.

A fly will work too.

This program is what made alot of Southern California lakes filled with so many record bass. When the trout trucks drop in the fish, they get dazed and the bass eat them up! They stopped this program in alot of the Lakes in southern california because trout were deemed invasive/non native (even though they wont live through the summers). Thats why you dont hear about the giant bass coming out of Southern California as much anymore.
