Guy is very over rated IMO.
Glad the Dodgers did not pursue him. Slightly above average DH and below average outfielder.
And 15 years! He is 27. So he will be a Met until he is 42!? Makes no sense to me at all. Right now there are only a handful of MLB players over 40 and they are pitchers who pitch like once every 5 days and are not starters for the most part. They come in for one hitter. Oldest position player is Votto at 40 and I think he might be retiring. He only hit 200 last year.
Crazy deal. agreed --- and he's 27 in latino years , which probably means he's 30 . Very common for the DR and PR players to lie about their actual age . They will be paying him $40M+ a year when his skills will be way lower than today

Never heard of the bum... I'll admit I don't follow baseball as closely as I did in the past... Dan This is where I’m falling into…

Crazy deal. Yeah, without roids the guy will be done by 37-38. Happy to see the Mets blow that kind of money on him.

When I worked at one time or another we had Rangers and Stars season tickets I used to go to a lot of Stars games.

"Fifteen years, $765 million, no deferred money. The numbers of Juan Soto's contract with the New York Mets, agreed to Sunday night in a deal that sets a new standard for the largest contract in professional sports history, tell a story." https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id...gns-record-contract-new-york-mets-passanWho would have thought that Ohtani's deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers that was the largest ever would only last for a year. Heck, let them pay the next Baseball Jesus $100 million a year. People will never stop going to games.

I’ve never understood the mentality of why one man would limit another’s man ability to make as much money as he could.
It’s called Socialism.

Crazy deal. Don't kid yourself, the Dodgers did pursue him. They offered $600m. And the deal doesn't include any deferred money that the Dodgers are known for. No Bobby Bonilla contract. Soto is 26. He's been one of the best hitters in the game since he came up at age 19. His defense and base running leave a lot to be desired but he's one of the best hitters in the game. He's only struck out more than he's walked in his first 2 seasons. So far in his career, he's +73 in walks compared to strike outs.

Almost any D1 college baseball outfielder plays the field better than him. That is a big issue (esp if Ohtani is going to pitch and hit DH when he is not pitching, which seems likely). Mookie Betts has 6 Gold Gloves and an MVP in right and looks to return there next season... Or you can play Soto in right? No arm and cant catch a cold? Him or Betts? Or do you sit Ohtani and DH Soto? Heck no. Great hitter or not, Soto does not fit on the team. As far at the Dodgers offer to Soto it was leaked by "sources" that they offered 600M. Damn well knowing that the Blue Jays, Mets, Red Socks and possibly others were at over 700M... so if that is true, if, was that a serious run to secure him? Not really. What they need to do is quite playing and resign Teoscar Hernandez. I understand both are very interested but after a few weeks... still cannot come up with a deal. We shall see. Dont you just love baseball!?

Mookie will be your Opening Day shortstop.
He's one of my favorite people to watch. Seems like a good guy, helluva athlete and will play MVP caliber defense wherever you put him.

My hot take on this, I like Edman to start at SS, Muncy at 3rd and Lux at 2. Of course Freeman on 1B. We will see. A LOT can and likely will change before opening day. And yeah, Mookie rules. Amazing athlete. Its a shame those two Yankee "fans" tried to mug him in New York. I was like dude, if you break his hand or finger... so help me...
