Going to Belton for a week and a half of camping and fishing. Need some help with what to use and where to go. I've fished their one time while we were staying at Cedar Ridge Campground. We'll be staying there again. Any help would be greatly appreciated flag

You didn't say when you are going.. The lake is about 7ft. low... Be very careful in cedar creek, lots of stumps until you get to the marina.. White bass and hybrids fair on live shad and jigging spoons, try sand flats and girl scout point and temple lake park area.. Fish have been 20 to 35 feet.. Water temp in low to mid 50's right now, might change with front coming this weekend.... Bass fair on carolina rig, watermelon, purple, red and pumpkin/pepper good colors.. Main and mid lake points 15 to 20 ft. Crappie fair on minnows around stumps and tree tops in 10 to 15ft water... Belton is usually a little slow in Jan but you can have a good day once in awhile...Hope this helps and good luck..

I've been catching bass on smaller cranks in the shad color on 45+degree banks around points. Fished fairly slow. I have been looking for areas that are in the range Wsydon1 mentioned that will reach where the fish are. Find fish on the sonar and fish depth near the areas you find them. It is very slow right now, Good fishing.

Mark,
Just keep an eye on the "Belton Bunch Thread in the White-Hydbids & Striper section of this forum and you can usuall get a pretty good red of what's going on at any given time. Most of these guys are out 3-4 times a week and believe me they catch a lo9t of fish.

Just a great bunch of people who enjoy one another whether it be on the TFF or at the lake. Everyone is welcome to partake. There is alot of info shared in the BB threads. Give us a time frame Mark and I'm sure we can help out.

Hey MR. G.
I am very unfamilar with Belton Lake. Hum Im thinking about starting fishing sometime around Mid Feb. thru Aug. Atleast fish a few times before I go back to work. What would you recommend for a rookie on Lake Belton. Shrimp/wd40, shad, slabs, trolling, follow the birds or what. Any advice would be appreciated............see u at the Boat Show....I mean the bball tourney............

and I agree with iamquockie......some of these good people are out everyday, or atleast ready to go daily.

Got back this past Sunday. Man what an experience that was. The wife and I pretty much stay under the covers on a heated mattrese pad and keep the heater going full blast from Saturday the 13th thru Sunday the 22nd. Every once in a while we'd go out to restocked on Blockbuster movies or just to brake up the cabin fever. We don't get to spend any time together in our city lives so maybe the good Lord put us in a situation were we had to spend time together. He's good about doing those things. We did run into a frozen women walking up the boat ramp and ask her if there was a tournament or something. She replied through shivering teeth, "Yep, it's the Tough Man Tournament . Part of the fishing show in town". Boy she gets my vote for the tough women award for sure. Looked like she could have used a good ole cup of steaming hot chicken or tomato soup. Man it was cold. All week long I had about 3/4" of solid ice on the floor of the boat and the boat was frozen to the trailer until Sunday morning. Wife and I got to get on the lake Sunday for our first time ever and just went from one end to the other site-seeing. We saw a fantastic waterfall on top of a high bluff out in the main lake. Is that normnally there? Thanks for the replies, I'm thinking about going back during spring break sometime in March. Thanks again!!!

Sorry about the foul weather on our fair lake. March should be MUCH MUCH better for the weather and the fishing. The waterfall is the runoff from a water plant that sits on top of that cliff and runs all the time. It's a popular gathering place in the summer.
