This is what the lake looks like on Christmas Day-not very crowded!!
This was the view I had on Christmas morning!
Had a great Christmas morning! for the first time in my life, we didn't have any kids, grandkids, or family for Christmas morning. And because I married a great woman, I got to go drag some baits! Santa brought me a new cast net (ten footer!-took me awhile to master the throw, and I did check the regs! legal up to 14 feet). I discovered that catfish definitely have an affinity for filleted carp. I started my drift in 15 FOW and ended in up in 35. Only got 8 or 9 but almost every fish was between 5 and 7 pounds. Got most of my fish in 32 FOW. No toads, but overall a fun morning.
I learned that catfishing solo is very peaceful at times and totally chaotic at others. What do you you do when you're trying to land a fish, you've got two rods going down and you forgot to get your net out of the rod box?! You just enjoy it!! Hope everyone had a great weekend and got to enjoy their loved ones. We got to do our Christmas with our grandkids on Monday night and it was worth the wait. Seeing these two open presents and getting what they hoped for is PRICELESS!
Everyone have a safe New Year and get ready for toad season to finally begin!
