Just curious if any of you have been able to to make a hard swimbait "more weedless" ?

If so, what treble hooks do you recommend?
I ask because I cannot even find a so-called weedless treble hook.

Mustad W3551 are for sale all over the internet and in some stores and have been around for years but I have no recommendations for them. One thing I�ve done successfully in the past was to cut off the leading hook on the treble hook. It still leaves two on each treble but now as you retrieve it they�re kinda tucked up against the lure and much less prone to snagging on weeds. I�m sure the hookup ratio is affected but I can�t say how much. Where I was fishing it didn�t much matter as my hookup count was zero as long as I was dredging the lake for weeds. When you�d like you can replace the treble hook and return to a three pronged attack. I know it�s not the preferred method but in a pinch it�ll work. And trebles are cheaper than a bunch of weedless lures.
