"Anglers Lodge" on our forum gave me real good report on the line. See his message to me below.

The flouro is as good, if not better. Have tested it and has the same qualities as the new 100% berkley you speak of. High price doesn't always mean high quality unfortunetly. Even though I believe the Gamma is the strongest and toughest, it is also one of the most expensive, so there is the other side that actually does what it says it will. But I have found most high priced lines are just that. High priced and nothing else. Catches fisherman, not fish.

Best fluorocarbon I've used, hands down. BassPro XPS is a VERY close second.

I used the 15lb I bought at Rockwall Marine on 5 of 6 reels this past weekend on Cedar Creek and I was rather impressed - I bought a 550 yard spool for slightly more than the Bass Pro XPS I used to buy that was 150 yards...

Cast ability is great but I was really impressed with the low memory despite the cold temps (very limp). I hung it up more than I would have liked and it actually took more brut force to break it than the BPS XPS. No problems with knots snapping or anything (hook sets on tree bass, etc.)

The 6th reel had the Vicious Ultimate 20 lb that we give away at Ignition Bass Tournaments which I believe is a copolymer like Yozuri - it was extremely tough line and very abrasion resistant.
Brush piles didn't nick it up at all. It's a bit stiff but for flipping heavy cover I can live with that.

We do give it away at our tournaments but in no way do they pay us - only product so take this endorsement for what it is worth but if I wasn't impressed I just would not have posted.

Great explanation of why Vicious is fast becoming one of the best lines on the market. I remember being very impressed the first time I used it with the low memory and limpness of the line in the cold temperatures on Monticello a few months ago. And you're also right about the strength, it's very hard to break.

I agree, guys. I fished Vicious for the first time Saturday at Fairfield and I never noticed the line - good quality to have!

Super strong and sensitive - now I need it in green!

I have been a Gamma Edge Fan for awhile now, but am liking this Vicious Fluoro better now it seems. I started out with regular Mono and was really impressed with the strength of it. Then after a few T's now with the Fluoro I'm started to gain lots of confidence in it.

In comparing the two lines (Gamma + Vicious) some things Ive seen

- Gamma is alittle more Springy on the cast
- colder Weather seems to effect the Gamma more then the other
- Gamma is more $
12lb Edge - 120 yds- $29.95
12lb Vicious 550 yrs- $ 16.95

Some positives that I've seen with the Gamma Fluoro
- it last a long Time on the Spool
- seems to be a little abrasion resistant
- good Knot strength

Does anybody know of anyone that carries Vicious in the Fort Worth area?

What knot are you guys using with the Vicious flourocarbon lines?

I used the 15# test this past weekend with a San Diego Jam knot and it broke very easily when hung up. Maybe its the knot (it did not look like the knot pulled loose) but I am VERY leary about using this line in the future.

I have been using a Uni with no problems. BUT be sure and soak it good before cinching it down. Been using the 15# a couple of months with no problems.

I purchased a spool of 15 lb Vicious fluorocarbon from an online tacklestore about a month ago (I think it was Tacklewarehouse). I found it quite stiff and hard to handle. I have been using Seaquar, Bass Pro and P-Line and like all three. The Vicious was obviously thicker in diameter than the other brands mentioned in the same pound class. The line also coiled badly once spooled - again spooled in the same manner as the other fluorocarbons. I personally rate it as poor and won't use it. I guess I am an exception to the replies above.

I have been using the 17lb and at first felt the same way as Befuddled but I have been spraying line stuff on it and it got a little more manageable. I will use up the spool but not sure I will replace it but I may try a lighter test before I give up on it.
