What is your favorite bait for sight fishing?

In the latest episode of Pro Fishing 101, I interviewed 10 MLF Pro Circuit tour anglers to get their feedback on the following questions:

1) If you could only have 1 bait to sight fish with, what would it be and why?
2) Now you get 3 baits to sight fish with, what would they be and why?
3) Do you have a special bed fishing box? Can we see it?

Yes, some sponsor whoring went on but a lot of guys mentioned quite a few non sponsored products. Which baits surprised you the most?

Very cool series and really informative Clark. The biggest question is: Do you believe what they're telling you?

For many, many years I almost exclusively grew a worm called a Sensation. 1/2 worm 1/2 lizard. After really good success and some big bass while bed fishing I’m sure it became a confidence thing but it’s what I threw. Miss those worms. Actually at the right time and in the right hands I’m pretty sure a weighted stick would catch fish off beds. [Linked Image]

Any small natural creature bait. Doesn't matter

Loved it! Awesome!
I’m just an avg Joe angler but from my experience I believe everything those guys are saying. Obviously they aren’t saying everything but to me what they are saying is great info that all of us can learn from. Kinda depends on your goals too. Tournament bed fishing seems very hard due to time management constraints. So fishing for money or fishing just to have fun catching any size fish or specifically targeting a trophy I believe might change those top 3 presentations a bit.
I would also go with a 3-4in craw/creature t rig- watermelon/pumpkin on 20lb mono as my rig if only allowed one.

A bunch of them use a white ZCraw type of bait when looking at them. Primarily because they want to be sure the fish ate the bait so they can hook it inside the mouth.Quite a few use a drop shot rig. Lots of stuff on a spinning rod. Seems like most guys have one thing that is unique to them that they like.

Finding them and getting them to stay there without someone else finding them is a key. At Fork this year they all had. A bunch marked in practice. A bunch moved off plus the light and wind conditions make it tough.

What you don’t see is what happens away from the camera. I was riding with Tood Auten on day 2. He had two good ones marked. Water dirtied and he could not see them. Both bit quick. Both were 7# or bigger. None ended up in the boat. Essentially he lost $10K in less than 10 minutes. Missed the cut. Land either and he would be inside the cut.

You sandbagger, you. I know you haven't caught a 9 pounder off the bed at Fork in almost 3 days. roflmao

To my friends on TFF, this man has forgotten more about bed fishing than the best ten of us combined. wink
