Reels are junk so far for me. Rods are not terrible I guess.

I had one reel that locked up on me the first day I used it. They replaced it for free and it worked well for one day on the water and immediately I noticed everything getting very sloppy and loose. I also have a spinning reel from them that I suppose is not terrible but you can tell that it is a cheap reel. I also have a 7'4" heavy casting rod and a 7' medium spinning reel from them that I suppose I really don't have any complaints about either one. All of them have been gifts (I am typically a lews and 13 fishing kinda guy) so would I recommend Kastking????? no

For the same price you can get a much higher quality reel on the for sale forums on here. I've bought 3 reels from guys in here for about half of the retail price and every one of them work perfectly.

Got one as a gift, it's ok, but it didn't last long.

If you are on a budget, the best $50 -ish dollar reel out there is the Pflueger President XT -- the normal retail is $79ish, but you can find them on sale most of the year for $52 or so. They are a great reel for that price. I am a Daiwa guy, but I do have a few of the President XTs(keep them on my "travel, back of the boat, type" set ups), and they have held up well.

Junk. Spend a little more money and get a quality product. That will make you happier and save you money in the long run. Also check out the sales forum and facebook marketplace

I bought one because I liked the idea of a 9:1 gear ratio. It worked just fine so I bought another one. After about a week of use the second one started making some really bad grinding sounds. The first one still works just fine, but I can't recommend buying one.

H20 express Mettle is a pretty good reel if you are on a budget. Might be able to find them on sale at a local Academy.

I buy Abu Black Max for my "budget" reels.... I'm hooked on Lews Speed Spools now....

Most of mine are Lews Speed Spools, but I have a few Lews American Hero. They too are nice reels and can usually find them for under $60.00..... 2cents:

I had a $20 spinning reel (Centron) that I really liked. It held up well for the 6 months I used it. Gifted it to a homeless friend who lost his rod.

I have never heard a positive, real-world, non-compensated review on their baitcasters.

For the same money you can get a Lew's Speed Spool LFS.

13 fishing has some really nice affordable stuff. I have a few of their rods and reels. I really like them and have had no issues

my question is why? Imagine losing the fish of a lifetime due to an inept reel. Murphy's law always applies. I use the best gear I can afford and it lasts and is reliable.
