Scuttlebutt about TTZ - 01/28/17 04:46 AM

Growing up around the hill country I have kept an eye on all those lakes over the years. From what I've seen I have been really impressed by the TTZ tournament events. They seem to be run very professionally, and offer serious payouts. Now that they're coming to North Texas I'm pretty well convinced that I've found my new tournament trail.

I just wanted to get some feedback from you fellow TFF'ers on your experiences with fishing these TTZ events. ... Both good and bad.

Also who's planning to attend the north Texas events?

I fished some tournaments with those guys before I moved to the metroplex...

Always a good time

Will fish most of the north events this year

Great group and they've certainly made an impact in the central. North Texas is a very different animal but I'm hoping they can break through at some point and give the North guys a 150 boat trail.

They have 244 teams on Travis today and have good growth the last three years. I fished the trail last last year and it was a great trail, 2 day championship and all. I would recommend it, they are doing something right. Only reason I didn't fish this year is because I am moving and couldn't commit to the whole year.

Monster turnout for TTZ today in the central. 247 teams.

I fished it today, my first tournament ever. Got smoked by better anglers but it was a great event. Cold and windy but others found a way to catch some great bags.

Everything moved really fast, registration, weigh-in and the wind!

Appreciate the kind words all! Looking forward to heading up north and hope you will give TTZ a try. 247 boats for us on Travis Saturday, a new record for that lake! Let's see what we can do on Whitney. Please contact me if you have any questions about the trail.

Thanks so much!

The ease of fishing a tournament is important:
-Sing up online, the night before, or the day of the event
-They are informative on places to stay (they have their own forum)
-They make it easy for boaters, choice of ramps when needed
-Staggered weigh in times (like Basschamps)
-Fast weigh-in's (like Basschamps)

Good Group of guys:
-Booker is always available for questions/concerns.
-Never any issues with any people on the trail at the events, weigh-ins or on the water
-They have free beer and sausage wraps at the weigh in
-They do have music at times the night before the events sometimes at registration
-They like to party
-Did I mention the free beer?

Lakes:
-They choose good lakes to fish that offer different challenges (no Canyon this year :))
-They listen to the anglers and make common sense decisions (Changed date of Belton last year, cancelling Waco due to high water)
-2 day championship

Cost is less than champs and offers a great payout.

There's more but that pretty much sums it up IMO

Nailed it!

I like TTZ because I feel like I'm a part of their family. They're very personable.

Re: Scuttlebutt about TTZ - 01/31/17 01:46 AM

I have fished several events over the years with TTZ and have watched them grow from the begining. They started out with weekday evening jack pots on Austin and Travis and because of the integrity of their events they have grown into full field major tournament trail in Texas. I fished the Travis event this past weekend and drove all the way down Coppell. I pulled up to register and shut my new suburban down, went and paid and came back to go launch and my suburban wouldn't start again. Booker came over offered my money back and offered to help me unhook and launch me. That's the kinda people they are . First class people first class trail.

What was wrong with the suburban?

Really hope people show up for the north division. Booker has worked really hard to grow this thing. Like others have said, you feel like you are fishing with a family.

Stringwise- The fuel pump went out. Boat and Truck still in Marble Falls . Guess I'll have to go pick out up and fish Basscamps on Travis this weekend.
