Okay guys first let me set the parameters of the budget....three reels average price of $50-60. I know its not the best but only have so much funds. These reels will be going on three GSX 6-6 MH rods. As of right now the main choice of lure would be texas rig, crank, spinners and maybe top lures like poppers or something else. Recommendations on ratios and which one would be best for which type of setup.
Right now looking through the stores I have compiled a list that I am wanting to do more research on. With Tacklewarehouse free shipping and matching price I want to find the ones and get all at once from one place.
So far my options Wright & McGill Skeet Reese (7:1 ratio at $49 on sale) Academy H20 Mette ($59) Daiwa Exceler ($49 on sale Cabelas) Abu Garcia black and silver max ($49-59)
I know more is out there so opinions are welcome and if anyone has used these reels, I welcome unbias reviews.
P.S. anyone who wants to give some freebies I would welcome that too LoL

Hands Down the Mettle!!!!!!! I have everything from revo's to citicas to lews! In many categories the Mettle is better IMO! I have 14 combos and 10 of them are mettles! Only thing that sorta sucks is they only come in 6:3.1!

Wright & McGill Skeet Reese.....JUNK. Ordered them on line and sent them back. Took one out of the box and the gears were grinding.

^^^This^^^ When I decided to "upgrade" my reels, this is exactly what I did. It took me about a year of being patient to find them at the right price, but it was well worth it. And those in the ad are reasonably priced.

Mettle, look for a sale price soon. Hopefully for FathersDay. Should be around 40 $. I will get me another one. It fishes as good as most 100-120 dollar reels, but the drag is weak. You can get better drag pieces for cheap when it finally wears out. Which wont be too long. Only 1 ratio, but if you get 2 of them on sale, you could use your savings to get a higher cost reel. I would recommend the pro qualifier which was just on sale for 80, reg 99$

This is exactly what I'd do if I had to spend $60 per reel. IMHO, that $50-$75 price range is the worst range for new reels. They're not appreciably better than the $30 reels like the cheap BPS reels or Mettles on sale, and they're considerably worse than the $100-$150 setups. I'd steer towards one end or the other. That middle ground is not a great value if you're buying new.

Abu- black max-stay away. 5 bearings Abu- silver max-pretty good with 6 bearings. (you can buy a promax handle+ 2 bearings and have 10 but then you are at $100) Skeet reels- That's what I have switched to from the Abu's (pro-max's) because of the aluminum frame, mechanical brakes, and 10 bearings. They work so well for the price. (I have 5 and never had any issues) On my deck right now, I have 4 skeets at $50 each sitting next to a revo stx 3 at $200 and I think that they work just as well so for people to call lower priced reels junk, is crazy. I don't know much about the other 2 but I'm thinking that they are magnetic brakes. Not sure. I have found (for me) that magnetic brakes work well for light lures and mechanical brakes work better for longer casts and heavier lures.

The mettle is the best reel mentioned and the rest are pure junk. Black max and Silverman anti revers and levelwind go out if you do any hard fishing and the skeet reels are the noisiest junk things made. I've owned a ton of mettles they're by far the best out of the ones you said.they are comparable to more expensive reels. I recommend finding used lews speed spools in the trading post. I've actully owned them all mentioned unlike some who haven't.

Sucks the Curator already sold but I might have a shot at 3 Curado 200 G5 but if not I will go with the H2O unless something pops up before then. Only thing bad is the Curado are all 5-5-1 ratios
