The surgery is over and everything turned out fine. It took 4 hours instead of three as I had more damage than the doctor realized. Turned out I had crushed two areas in front of the ankle that took additional bone and pins to repair. I still don't understand how slipping and falling to the floor could do all this damage.

The doctor tells me I will be walking again in a normal manner in three months if I follow his directions, six months if I am too stubborn to listen. I am stubborn but I am not dumb. I will be following his instructions to a T. rolfmao

He will review the surgery in ten days. At that time he will decide if it is safe for me to use the knee scooter on uneven surfaces. He made sure to give these instructions in the presence of my wife and daughter to ensure I obeyed. wife Which was unnecessary as he scared me enough with the six month threat to ensure my following his instructions. rolfmao

So all the good wishes and prayers of all came through for me, now time will fix the rest.

You have my sympathy. It must be h*ll being allergic to anesthesia since it is used for so many procedures.

I am not allergic to anesthesia but am allergic to most pain pills, having been forced to use them for 25 years. So I am now forced to live with pain. They give me a local block which will last for two days. They stated the pain will be somewhat diminished by then.

Since I already live with level 4 pain I doubt the foot pain will be any worse by then.

I can't use crutches due to the recent heart surgery. So I was stuck in a wheelchair for the first six weeks of the foot injury and was only allowed to use a knee scooter starting last week. I think a knee scooter is worse than crutches but know people disagree with me about that. Hope that doesn't start a thread about crutches vs knee scooters while fishing for crappie. rolfmao

Seeing all the typo's I can see the anesthesia is still having an impact on me. Hope I caught them all. I guess I better go back and review the other post. No telling what I actually said in it. rolfmao

Praying for ya!

Jesus said to them, "Children, do you have any fish?" They answered him, "No." He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. (John 21:5,6)

Don't know if skippy would work, as I have limped for years from failed back surgeries.

I thought about limpy, until I looked it up and read the Urban Dictionary meaning for the word. rolfmao

So I guess I'll stick with ezgoing, as that is what I try to be. I know I don't always succeed but I am trying. rolfmao

Thanks. I appreciate the offer.

The surgery went fine, the foot is healing. So it is just putting in the time required for it to heal enough for me to walk again.

I have very little pain from the surgery now. I see the doc in the morning so he can check the foot. I'm hoping he will allow me to use the foot again after he checks it.

But from what I've read about this surgery I suspect it will be non-weight bearing for it for another two weeks before I am allowed to put any weight on the foot.

I still don't understand how a simple fall could cause this much damage. frown

So the main thing wrong with me right now is boredom and frustration that something this simple can result in months of forced inactivity. frown
