As you all know we don't get much rain here in these parts... However the recent rains still have the Guadalupe prettttty murky and cloudy. Got me to thinkin, what are some good techniques for bass fishin in the murky, muddy, waters the following days after a good rain? Anyone have any luck in these conditions?

After a few days I think they get use to it. Plus in shallow water you can get a lot closer with out spooking them. Try a gold double willow leaf spinnerbait with a chartreuse skirt, top waters, pitching but I think you gotta hit em on the head.
There's parts of rayburn that'll look like chocolate milk that I've had luck on.

Here are my tweaked spinner baits made for that purpose.

The double willow blades diamond dusted with the small blade in chartreuse will get the job done. Just got in a order from Terry at Bumper Stumper Baits. We will be testing them in Mexico next week. Pictures and write-up will follow on our return.

It just doesn't get any better than these baits. We adveraged 40 per day with 20 of those over 5 lbs. on our last trip using Papamarks tweaked bait. See the pics. of some of them on this post also. Both baits are ready to go. Bumper Stumpers are not pictured yet. They have the nickle chromed head with a 3 mm. eye and all the goodies of the other spinner baits.

pick up the spinner bait and go. When u find some active fish then slow down and use very very bright or black trig.

As mentioned, baits that put off vibration like a spinnerbait or chatterbait will produce, as will pitching jigs, soft plastics to shallow cover. Muddy water almost always enhances the shallow bite, while making deep fish harder to locate (at least for me). The key shallow is cover. A rock, stump, lawn chair, whatever you can find. Try to fish your bait as close to these objects as possible, bumping them with your lure. Multiple casts to each target too.

tried the noise method, they didn't pay no mind to my crank crawfish lure. and i always fish with chatrouse jigs and land them in clear weather. haven't tried the spinners yet.

but the main things are something with noise (due to no visibility) and bright (same... not easy to see the bait) huh?

will give this a go tonight, i always fish evenings if that changes things.

but i will throw out the old spinner bait tonight.

Muddy water is tough on a lake that is generally clear. A constant muddy water lake = Black and Blue Biffle Bug.

Like Huck said. If it is not normally muddy it be can be tough fishing when it gets muddy all of a sudden. On the sabine where I fish if it gets muddy you cant catch them for a few days. But if you are gonna try go with the suggestions above black and blue soft plastics that move water or night time spinner baits.

I like to fish the back of the creeks after a big rain. Fish know that new food will be washed in and will move shallow shallow every time to feed. The best bait I've found is red shad power worms.

Chartreuse works, but I've caught tons of bass on black (and variations of black), white and even yellow. Those colors show up well in murky to muddy water.

Spinnerbaits and more spinnerbaits. Try different blade and color combinations. If it's really muddy my go to bait is a chartreuse skirt, chartreuse speed craw trailer with gold double willow blades. if the water temp is cold (relative) I go with Colorado blades.

i think all these replies are great.... i fish muddy/stained water a lot and one thing the fish seem to always remind me of is slowing down. yeah i still crank but put more pause in my retrieve.
