DUDE! We saw a vortex by Rain God about 3 years ago, not big but it was certainly not stopping. I would bet that's the same one or close to it.

Reminds me of what happened at Lake Peigneur in Louisiana in 1980. An oil drilling crew drilled into a salt done by accident. Goodbye lake!

Just start throwing giant sheets of visqueen in it and see what happens. There might be enough suction there to hold it in place and plug it off.
