So I was fishing the mcdonalds dragging a Carolina rig with my falcon amistad and I set the hook and it shattered and the fish weighed about 1.5 pounds. I wasn't worried about it because that's why I spend money on good equipment. Yea they will warranty it no problem. Weeeellllllll that's not the case! Dad shipped it to falcon and he gets a call from them and say they won't warranty it because it looks like it was stepped on. And that is not the case! Between my dad and cousin and I we have 20+ falcons and almost all are caras. So at this point we will never be buying another one. I called Friday an today and got my number taken down but still no call back. I love my falcons and if I could get it taken care of under warranty I still will. I guess they think it was stepped on because it shattered in 3 pieces. Because that's "normally isn't the way they break if you set the hook". Sure hope I can get it taken care.

I've had that happen to an amistad before. As one of my good friends said: Breaking rods is part of fishing. It happens. Falcon will send you a replacement for $70 if I'm not mistaken.

$90 plus $40 shipping. And that's not much warranty in my book.

I broke two of them on hook sets last year and they both broke in three pieces like you are describing. I wrote them a letter explaining everything and they honored the warranty as it is written.
Hopefully you can work it out with them, they are good rods.

Man sounds like all the rod brands are being roasted on the TFF today, if you fish much you will break rods. Usually it is because somewhere along the line YOU damaged your blank in someway and created a weak spot and then it fails. Sometimes they break over a gunnel That's Fishing

If you have never broke a rod then your not setting the hook hard enough. I break 2 or more a year and they have been all different brands, its just part of it.

Yea I understand the breaking of the rod. I pay the extra money for caras for the warranty for when they break. I can get it replaced. The fact that they said we stepped on it and broke it is what I'm upset about and said that it didn't happen setting the hook

I broke this one on a hook set earlier this year, falcon replaced it no problem at no cost to me.

Just wondering if you have ever looked down and found your foot on the your rods? I snap 2-3 rods a year but I would have to say most are my fault as I have found my foot on my rods more than once.

I've sent rods back to falcon numerous times. Some I broke accidently, some that broke on hook set. They've seen so many rods over the years they know which ones are broke on hook sets and ones that are human error. Cody Fisher has always taken good care of me. Great company and customer service.

Well Cody is wrong about this one. No I keep them in the rod box. And he is the one who hasn't called me back. I had to reel the fish in by hand because when it snapped one piece want out to the fish the other two got all tangled up so I just had to bring it in by hand.
