Sounds like a good bait. Interesting that you caught more catfish then carp. I've caught plenty of catfish on carp bait before though but usually if I get one carp I'll get more.
Maybe it's a small population of White Amur in that lake. Do you know if there are any Common Carp in there?
They don't often hit baits like that, so they must have been hungry!

I had a rod taken out of my hand two weeks ago!!!! I was on the coast fishing for redfish with live crab. We had caught a few 20-30 lbers. earlier but the fishing had slowed down a little when all of a sudden the rod shot out of my hand like it was tied to a boat. I didn't even have time to think about jumping in after it. Needless to say, I was the butt of all jokes the remainder of the weekend.
