Yep its NOT rocket science --30 gal plastic trash can with lid, add grain just whatever ya like (I prefer hen scratch) add water check every couple days keep grain covered. If ya want to speed up add yeast & sugar,THATS IT NOTHING ELSE(beer is already fermented so ya just waistin it) If this dont work for ya theres a reason, AINT NO CATFISH CLOSE TO WHERE YA CHUMMIN-------- PERIOD

I like the minnow bucket idea. No its not hard to do.... Im probably just a little anxious and wanting to "fast track" some and was wondering when about is the earlist you can use it and it still sinks instead of floating. Sounds like i really just need to wait and let it do its thang.
All my shallow flooded out green veg spots that i normally dont need chum with will all be high and dry this year so going to be baiting and chumming.
Why so many ppl using milo? Noticed milo @ $10 a bag and wheat @ 15... Didnt have any problems finding wheat, but is it because of cost or seems to be more readily available? Broadcast better? Sour more quickly?

... And i have never understood the beer thing. A its beer for heavens sake! Its for me! Not the fish. B packets of yeast are cheaper and work better.

No need for beer or anything else this time if year. Fill a bucket with any grain or chicken scratch. Cover in water and put in the sun. Usually sour enough in four or five days to use then just keep adding grain as you use it.

Glad you guys like the minnow bucket idea. We gathered up 5 or 6 from garage sales and flee markets. They really suck as minnow buckets lol and there everywhere. We used to do like everyone else and broadcast some grain when we pulled up. Next thing you know we got fish puking grain up all over us and the boat. Stripershack wheat is not a common feed for livestock but lots of people feed chickens milo. Some places wheat is hard to come by. Last week I stopped at 4 feed stores and no wheat but they all had milo. I have never tried wheat but if I find some I am going to give it a try. Can't think it would stink more then milo My dad soured some soy beans once and that stuff was rank. Someone had to hold a gun on the person opening the bucket lol. Soy beans are real hard to find west of Mississippi but if you can find some it works real well if you can stand the smell.
