Looking to get a cowling cover for my 250 SHO. Any recommendations? I'd like a vented model that I can leave on all the time. Tuff skins look pretty good but I've not seen one in person.

BarW I bought a 250-SHO in 2012 an before my purchase talked with Yamaha Customer Relations asking several questions about the engine. One Q was why they didn't manufacture a vented motor cover for the SHO like several after-markets do. They said due to engines getting to hot an seizing up etc they only sold engine covers that were not vented to be used only when the engine was not running. They said running my engine while covered would void the warranty. That's when I decided not to buy a vented cover like a Tuff-Skins etc. I know thousands of people on this site run them an i have never herd any problems associated with a vented motor cover whether it be a Yamaha,Mercury,or Evinrude. I would call Yamaha before making this purchase because I would hate to see you possibly seize your SHO an not be covered. Yamaha is out Kennesaw, Ga. ph. 866-894-1626 if your interested.

Take it off before you take in it for service. Problem solved.

Put one on my series 2 Yammie and it didn't run right at all, scared me. Just be extra careful if you use for first time pay attention to gauges etc...I'm sure most have no issues but I did have some

Putting one of these on your cowling is lost on me...of the four brand new motors I've owned over the years road debris has never damaged it, I keep a coat of wax on it so bugs wipe right off at the end of the day...had non boaters pop it on the cast with little to no damage...so other than having an old sun faded un-cared for decal falling off don't want to pay for a re-fresh cowling why would anybody put one of these on ?...just curious...haters need not reply...
