Getting close. The female hasn't moved off the nest in the last two days, that I have seen. The male has also been same position as seen in the picture for 2 days also. There are two males in the tank and it seems that only one male has paired up with the female. The other male stays on the opposite side of the tank. Water temp is 78.

I have relied on one tried and true method to figure out when crappie are going to be spawning. That method is: When the Dogwoods are in full bloom, the crappie are spawning.

Stucky, its around 110 gallons as far as what am I going to do with the fry if they survive? I guess I will study the recruitment rate. I am thinking this guy will have a go at the eggs if given the chance. Hes purity crafty at catching the minnows and is a survivor ..so far. I witnessed one of the males fertilizing spawning bed # 1, a couple of days ago (He had the shake and shiver down pat.). Spawning bed # 1 is behind a log and I can not see if any eggs were deposited. It appears that the female is using all 3 spawning bed sites, one male stays on spawning bed # 2 at all times and the other male moves with the female from bed # 1 to bed # 3. It appears that the female has spawned several times; she is still full of eggs and will spawn again. It has been interesting to say the least. I am learning a lot!!!!!!! I have been keeping notes and if any of it makes scene, I will pass it on. Kens original post is worth reading again and saving for future reference.

That's really cool Kirk! How long have they been in the tank and what are you feeding them? Minnows?
