Okie,
In the structurescan photo top right it appears to me that the white dots mixed in the structure are fish. What do you not see in the screenshots that would have made you stop and fish the structure. Obviously with the new technology I must be over analyzing what I am seeing.
Thanks for the feedback.

I also question what you are calling fish. They maybe or they may not be, turn off the structure scan overlay on the 2d sonar and it will tell you more.

Agree, I don't use overlay and can tell more without it. Fish typically mark much more pronounced than the blur you are seeing. Fish would likely produce a larger dot in and out of the brushpiles, some above, some beside. It looks to me like you are seeing part of the bursh, maybe leaves? Not fish. I suggest you look at other screen shots in various sections on this forum that truly show fish. It's a learning experience and one that takes time on the water. Good luck, you are off to a great start,.

Guys,
Can you explain where the settings are for the structure scan overlay ? I have not found this feature where it toggles from on to off. I have an HDS10 gen 2 unit.

Been awhile since I've turned mine on but I think if you put the orange box on your sonar box then hit menu, it should have "overlays" or something to that extent. Go into the overlay menu and unselect structure.
If that is wrong maybe Okie will set me straight. (I haven't used my graph in several months.)

Yep, pretty sure you remember correctly GS. Or it may be one more step, the pull down menu from the same screen. Got some exciting news, my 'spotlight' is in transit and I'll have it in my hot hands by Friday evening!!!! I plan to take it out for a test run next Monday and I'll report back! I'm excited!!!!

I think I found the overlay setting and turned it off. Using the demo this removes the structure scan moving image from the chart if I turned off the correct setting. Does this increase the sensitivity in the actual structure scan windows to make clear images?

Found a surprise package on my porch yesterday afternoon!
I now have the 'spotlight' in my greedy little hands. Hope to get it installed this weekend and on the water early next week. I'll be posting pics as soon as possible.

I just installed my new HDS 7 Gen 2 in my boat. The structure scan for some reason has a bunch of lines in the water column, just on the right side. Anybody know how to fix this?

Transducer is getting interference from motor, jack plate, or something else on the back of the boat. Basically the signal is bouncing off something on the right side. You may have to look at where you mounted it. Lots of info on BBC on this topic.

It's mounted on the drivers side of the boat, on my jack plate. So the only thing that would be blocking it would be the boat hull.

Sounds like the hull is the problem. Had the same issue on my Skeeter with the sponsons on the hull that stick out. There is a bracket kit that is sold by Transducer Shield and Saver for mounting the ducer on the jack plate that extends it down a little further. I bought one and it helped clear up this problem with mine.
