If I make it out in the next couple of days, I'll be fishing for channel cats with my clothes on. They don't care about water clarity, and I can use heavy enough line to not climb down into the creek. I'll be back on the sand bass soon though.

I guess they are serious, lol. They may be serious by putting a sign there, but not sure who put it there but it does not say No parking off the road, just says no parking in each direction along the curb. This is my opinion and I may be wrong but Dallas owns that property and patrols it, not Rowlett PD, I really do not know if Rowlett PD can even give you a ticket for parking on the dirt, they can on the street there though. That sign was there last week and I parked there for over an hour at lunch along with three other cars and the Rowlett PD never did anything. The same thing goes for the neighborhood along the creek, you have a right to park on any street in Dallas county, there are some easements to get to the creek between peoples houses in those neighborhoods and one has been posted with signs for no trespass but they can not enforce that. I should know, I actually own a house in the neighborhood and have been using one of those easements for years to get to the nature trail with my kids, now it is posted, I have been using it the last week to access the creek and just waiting for a neighbor to say something to me about it, I am up for the challenge. You can not cross someones property but some of the people are over steeping their bounds by marking property that is not theirs. I do understand they do not want our neighborhood trashed up but you have to be reasonable, please pick up your trash so everyone can get along and have access to the creek. Another problem is all the oil leaks on the road where a lot of people have been parking, not much that can be done about that though. Enjoy the run guys.

The "No Parking" signs on the curb have been there for years. For some reason, someone drives by every year and thinks they are new. There're for no parking on the street from along time ago.
The field, bounded by the road and the posts where the Preserve starts, is owned by an individual. They have graciously allowed us to park there so far. You can get a ticket for jumping the curb and/or parking in the field. It is private property (although it is not "posted") and not part of the Preserve. LEO's have been talking to us for years about parking there. The police usually don't do anything until someone complains. It's usually this time of year for guys almost causing wrecks jumping the curb.
City of Garland empties the trash and maintains the posts near the creek. Garland PD answers calls there. When Game Wardens arrest or tow, they call Garland. Rowlett is by the 7-11.

BaffinBay, we are talking about southern Rowlett Rd at the mouth of the creek, not northern Rowlett Rd/ Firewheel area. That area is definitely Rowlett.

Just waiting for the first "no naked fishing" sign. Until then, I'm letting it all out. See you boys out there.

You know it's Sandbass run time when we get "Geography 101" on the forum. Gotta love it!

Now I'm confused. Other than the bike park, where can you park? On Miller, there seems to only be space for 6 vehicles or so. I guess you could park at Springfield Park although I've never done that. What's best?
Otherwise, is there any chance the Sandie's made it north of firewheel Pkwy?

There's parking at miller, 66, bike park, firewheel, gun range, and some secret areas...

Anyone heading out tomorrow? No. Too muddy. Just had another good little shower tonight. Not enough to really affect the water too much, but the ground was already sopping wet.

Had to go run an errand, so I took the long way to check out the parking spot at the south Rowlett Rd bridge to double check what I thought I saw earlier. Definitely new signs up, with a new sign right in the middle of where people hop the curb to pull into the grass. You can still pull in around it, but I wouldn't. People have been warned by police and ticketed already, as was reported earlier. Just assume you are going to get towed if you pull in there now. Not that you'd want to right now anyway, it's a muddy mess.

It's off Centerville in Garland, north of 66. You'll see a sign for "Rowlett Creek Preserve". Lots of parking there. Can be packed with mountain bikers on the weekends.
