It is not the size of the fish that is important. It is the time of year and the business the big catfish are doing. They are on the nest protecting our future fish. When you take them away bream and other small fish will devour all of those eggs in a very short time. There is a reason we always protect nesting and breeding grounds, it is our future. That is the only problem I have with hand fishing. This is a slow growing fish and does need some protection.

All fish caught will be cleaned for tpwd studies. Local biologists will be on site to pull earbones on all the fish caught. [quote]

I noodle and have for a long time. I usually don't keep the fish anymore, just do it for the fun. With that being said I can't help but think of the law of deuteronomy 22:6. Look it up if you're not familiar with it. It talks about nesting birds but I can see how a fish fits this the same.

I have no problems with the noodling, it's the fact that this particular tourney is five fish each team and every fish is to be killed. Just shows me that they do not care about the fishery. Jmo Yep...

So should we stop fishing for crappie and sand-bass in the spring when they spawn? The same thing is it not? Or hunting during the rut? Or Spring turkey hunting? Or catching salmon when they run up stream to spawn. Don't get me wrong, I agree keeping 5 big fish is unacceptable, they should practice CAR and keep the fish alive until weigh-in and release afterwards. But if one is going to use a biblical verse to efend those actions then it must be applied evenly or not used at all. I am not trying to be combative, just my .02
